Brookings City Council appoints Wayne Avery to vacant seat

The Brookings City Council selects Wayne Avery to be their new member.

Avery was one of five applicants to fill the seat that opened with Ope Niemeyer’s election as Mayor.

Avery is a retired banker. At the May 18th Council meeting, Avery told the Council that he has the experience to serve. He’s also worked extensively with several volunteer agencies including Advance, Untied Way and Pheasants Forever.

Avery will serve just under a year, until next year’s City and School Election when the seat will be up for a one-year term.
