Brookings County Sheriff’s office warns of scam calls

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department is warning of a scam making the rounds.
People in the county are receiving calls claiming to come from Homeland Security or the Sheriff’s Department.
The callers claim there is a warrant out for the person’s arrest and they seek personal and financial information.
The Sheriff’s office says they would never seek such information over the phone and the calls are a scam.
