Brookings police, school staff assist former student “in crisis” at High School parking lot

The Brookings Police Department and the Brookings School District have issued a release on a Tuesday morning incident at the High School parking lot.

At about 11:40 am, Brookings Police responded to a welfare check of an individual in crisis. Officers and school staff located a school-aged, adult male locked inside a vehicle.

After contact with police officers, the young man exited the vehicle and was transported to Brookings Hospital for evaluation.

Brookings High School Administrators identified him as a former Brookings High School student.

According to the release, at no time were students or staff at in any danger.
