COVID-19 deaths continue to climb in South Dakota

There have been 94 COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota over the long Thanksgiving weekend as the total has grown to 943 since Wednesday. None of those deaths were in Brookings County.

Active cases in Brookings County have increased by 74 since Wednesday to 455. Total cases are up by 118 and now sit at 2429. There have been 16 deaths in Brookings County. The “ever hospitalized” number is at 79. The County is in the “substantial” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 1618 since Wednesday are now at 16,930. Total cases have increased by 3758 to 9,900. The number of people who have recovered is 62,027. Current hospitalizations have gone down by 26 and stand at 544.
