Five apply for Brookings City Council seat

There are five applicants for the Brookings City Council seat that became vacant with the election and swearing in of Ope Niemeyer as Mayor.

Those five applicants are: Bradley Walker, Nate Holden, Julie Erickson, Brianna Doran and Wayne Avery.

Walker finished last in the recent mayoral election with only 234 votes. Holden was last in this year’s City Council Race with 329 votes. The top vote-getters in both races were over 2000 votes.

The five will be invited to the May 18th work session of the City Council to make a presentation and answer questions. The Council will make the selection and the May 25th meeting.

The person selected will serve just under a year, until next year’s City and School Election when that seat will be up for a one-year term.

Today at 5:00 pm was the deadline to apply.
