Flandreau man indicted for sexual abuse of a child

A Flandreau man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says 67-year-old Cecil Long was indicted earlier this month and appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on January 10 and pled not guilty to the Indictment.

The Indictment alleges that, over a period of years, Long knowingly engaged in and attempted to engage in sexual acts with a child under the age of 12.

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI.

Long was released on bond pending trial, which is set for March 17.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to life in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
