An Aberdeen man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a Brookings woman in her home.

Police Detective Adam Smith says it happened Tuesday. The woman says a man insepcted her residence for the department of Housing and Urban Devleopment.

According to the woman, the inspection was completed and the man left but returned a short time later and said he needed to look at some additional items. She says he wlaked through the residence again before sexually assaulting her.

The victim was able to get away and the man left.

He has been identified as 51-year-old Sea Atwood of Aberdeen. On Wednesday, he was located and interviewed by Aberdeen police. He denied assaulting the woman. He was arrested Wednesday for 2nd degree rape.

Police confirm Atwood was working for HUD at the time of the alleged assault.
