Mitchell voters are deciding today on a $17 million school bond issue.

The money would be used to add athletic facilities to the new high school.

The Mitchell School District had budgeted $45 million for the new high school but inflation has pushed the cost to $62 million.

The Mitchell School Board in January approved a base bid of $45.5 million for the new school without the athletic facilities.

If the bond issue does not pass, the school would continue to use the facilities at the current high school.

The bond issue needs 60-percent approval to pass today.
