One COVID-19 death reported in South Dakota Thursday; active cases fall below 1000

One COVID-19 death reported in South Dakota Thursday, the total is now 1989.

Active cases in Brookings County drop by 4 to 26. There are 3 new cases, raising the total to 4210. There have been 37 deaths in Brookings County and there are 4147 recovered cases. The ever hospitalized number is at 158. The County is in the “moderate” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 68 to 936, falling below 1000 for the first time since August. Total cases increase by 83 to 123,599. There are 120,674 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by 2 to 68.

Fifty-six percent of the state has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Some 624,229 vaccinations have been administered in the state to 336,558 people. A total of 23,992 doses have been given in Brookings County to 13,651 people.
