Power outage hits Brookings County

A power outage last night affected about 3000 people in Brookings County.
In an online post, Sioux Valley Energy says their supplier lost power to a circuit that feeds their Brookings County Substations. That affected people in the Brookings, Volga, Sinai, Bushnell, Elkton, Medary and Sunnyview areas. They also had an issue with a tree on a powerline in the Medary area. A thunderstorm was moving through at the time.
Most people had power restored within an hour after it went out at 9:22 p.m.
The City of White was also without power for about an hour.
