Rapid City fire being brought under control

The Auburn Fire that had been threatening Rapid City neighborhoods is now at least 50 percent contained and 974 acres in size.

Evacuations and road closures were lifted as of 6:00 pm Tuesday although only residents will be allowed into the area.

Firefighters continued to monitor structures in the area overnight, reinforcing containment lines and extinguishing hot spots.

No structures or livestock has been lost but there was one minor injury involving a firefighter.
