A Rapid City man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison after shooting another man and leaving him in the ditch.

Thiry-one-year-old Andrew Thorson was sentenced to 70-years in prison with 15-years suspended in the death of 24-year-old Dhani Aronson. His body was found along Highway 16 in Pennington County in November, 2021. He had been shot twice in the head.

Thorson shot the man while they were riding in a car driven by 27-year-old Jacob Staton.
He’s been charged as an accessory to the crime and is currently out on bond.

Thorson had earlier pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter. In return, a charge of second-degree murder was dropped.
