Section of Medary Ave., south of 20th St. S., to be converted to gravel

The City of Brookings says it will be converting the paved road surface on Medary Avenue, south of 20th Street South, to gravel.

The City says this is due to the deteriorating road surface on the stretch of road. The work is scheduled to begin Tuesday.

It will be similar to the road surface further south on Medary Ave going to 32nd Street.

A press release says this new gravel road surface will allow the City to better maintain the roadway and help reduce roadway closures in the future.

Starting Tuesday, Medary Avenue from 20th Street South to 32nd Street South will be closed to thru traffic. It will take a day or two to complete the 1600-foot section.

Detours will be in place during the work.
