Seven COVID-19 deaths reported Friday; active cases continue to fall

Seven COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday. The total is now 2189.
Active cases in Brookings County decrease by two to 143. Nine new cases reported, raising the total to 5045. Recovered cases are at 4864. There have been 38 deaths in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.
Statewide, active cases decrease by 95 to 5868. Total cases are up by 320 to 149,996. There are 141,939 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 16 to 185.
Sixty-six percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
