Six COVID-19 deaths reported Thursday in South Dakota; active cases increase

Six COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Thursday, the statewide total is now 2355.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by 18 to 187. Twenty-eight new cases reported Wednesday. The total is now 5417. Recovered cases are at 5189. There have been 41 deaths in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 194 to 7416. Total cases increase by 615 to 167,759. There are 157,988 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by one to 248.

Sixty-four-percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The way the state calculates the vaccination percentage has been changed to reflect the fact that children ages five to eleven are now also vaccine-eligible.
