Small diesel fuel spill in Volga after semi truck’s fuel tank is punctured

A semi truck’s fuel tank is punctured near Volga, causing a spill of about 40 gallons of diesel.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says it was reported shortly before 3:00 pm Thursday at the Valley Mart in Volga.

The semi had hit some road debris on Highway 14 about three miles east of Volga.

Volga Fire and Brookings County Emergency Management responded to the scene and were able to contain and clean up the spill.

Damage to the Semi is estimated at $2,500.
