Fyre Festival 2 Is A Go…Without Any Performers Announced
Billy McFarland is moving ahead making lots of big promises again for Fyre Festival 2 in spring 2025 on a private island off Mexico.
McFarland says he’s already sold 100 tickets at $500 each. He is asking $1400 for tickets all the way up to $1.1 million dollars for luxury experience, and is aiming for 3,000 attendees. Here’s the kicker though…no performers have been confirmed. “Fyre Festival II is happening April 25, 2025, so we’re seven and a half months away,” McFarland said. “We have a private island off the coast of Mexico in the Caribbean, and we have an incredible production company who’s handling everything from soup to nuts.”
He says, “My job is to be this little airplane flying through a storm and trying to tell you that we’re not sure if we’re going to crash or land. And I feel like the more we can embrace that hurricane the more people are going to want to get a front row seat and be there as it happens…just to be there for this three-day cultural moment where the outcome is just not clear.”
Those $1.1 million dollar VIP packages promise luxury yachts, scuba diving with McFarland and island hopping. And it’s not just music but live karate fights?? Yep. And those famous cheese sandwiches!
You may recall the first Fyre Festival was an absolute disaster and in fact landed McFarland in jail. In 2018, McFarland was sentenced to six years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of wire fraud in connection to the original Fyre Fest. After serving four years of the sentence, he was released early in May 2022. Netflix did a documentary on the failure of the original. McFarland does have a marketing company and gets a monthly salary, some of which goes to pay millions in debt from his conviction. And 10% of the profits from Fyre Festival 2 will go to pay off those debts.
Would you risk $1400 a ticket on this second attempt?
