Ten COVID-19 deaths reported today in South Dakota as well as a significant increase in cases

Ten new COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota today, the total is now 258.

Active cases in Brookings County go up by one to 90. The overall case count is up by 13 to 862. There have been 2 deaths in Brookings County and the “ever hospitalized” category increases by one and is at 16. The County is in the “substantial” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases go up by 332 to 4511. Total cases increase by 609 (562 confirmed and 47 probable). The number of people who have recovered is 21,137. Current hospitalizations increase by 23 to 273.

The numbers reported by the state now include probable cases as well as those that are confirmed. It’s based on the test taken.  The Department of Health treats probable cases the same as confirmed when it comes to contact tracing and other procedures.
