Three COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota in the last week; active cases fall

Three COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday in the Department of Health weekly update, raising the statewide total to 3017.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by seven to 35. Fifty-one new cases reported since September 14th, the total is 8,889. Recovered cases are at 8,795. There have been 59 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 44 to 709. Total cases increase by 956 in the last week to 260,639. There are 256,913 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by 22 to 107.

Seventy-six percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Sixty-one percent have completed a vaccine series and 34-percent have received a booster.
