A Mellette County Woman and a Mission man have been sentenced for their roles in a homicide and a burglary.

The U-S Atttorney’s office says 21-year-old Sativa Looking Cloud was sentenced to 20-years in federal prison for second degree murder and first degree burglary.

Thirty-year-old Stephen Fallis was sentenced to eight years in prison for possession of a stolen firearm.

They were indicted by a federal grand jury in March of 2022.

The case stemmed from two separate incidents in Mellette County in February of 2022.

First, the two illegally entered a residence. Looking Cloud argued with the occupants, produced a handgun and fired multiple shots in the direction of the occupants. They then fled.

Later that day, the two were at another residence in Mellette County. Looking Cloud got into an argument with a woman and produced handgun. She fired a single shot at the woman, striking her in the chest. Looking Cloud and Fallis then fled. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
