A 7th COVID-19 fatality reported in South Dakota; another big jump in cases

The state Department of Health reports 143 new cases today, raising the total of confirmed cases to 1311.

One additional fatality has been reported, there are now 7 deaths from coronavirus.

The state is now home to the nation’s biggest coronavirus hot spot – Smithfield Fooods.

There have been 9339 negative tests and 373 people have recovered from the virus.

Brookings County remains at 9 cases with 6 recovered. The County is listed as community spread, in the minimal/moderate category.

Minnehaha County saw another big jump and now stands at 1065 confirmed cases. A large number of those cases are connected to Smithfield Foods.
