Brookings County moved into the COVID-19 “substantial” community spread category

Another COVID-19 case in Brookings County, raising the total to 39 with 12 of them active. The County has now been bumped up into the “substantial” community spread category.
Brookings county is listed as having two people ever hospitalized from the virus. There have been 1325 negative tests conducted in the county.

According to the Department of Health, substantial community spread means there are “five-plus cases of community-acquired COVID-19 in a county or a distinct group of cases in a single area.”

Statewide, one COVID-19 death was reported in South Dakota today, the total is now 78.

Active cases increased by nine to 829.

Total positive cases increased by 84 to 6050. The number of people who have recovered is 5143 and current hospitalizations are 91. There have been 62,938 negative tests reported in South Dakota.
