Juvenile arrested for aggravated assault in Brookings

Brookings police arrest a male juvenile for assaulting another teen using the butt of a gun.

Police Lt. Marci Gebers says it happened around 7:00 o’clock Sunday evening. The victim told police he had been struck in the face with the hand gun. The assailant also damaged the windshield of the victim’s vehicle with the gun butt. The juvenile refused medical treatment.

It’s believed to have been a BB gun that looked like a real handgun.

Gebers says the two were meeting on the 600 block of Heritage Drive. She says an earlier drug deal may have played into the assault.

Police were able to locate the suspect and he was arrested for aggravated assault and intentional damage to property.
