Name released in Saturday’s car/pedestrian fatal on I29

The woman killed in a Saturday night car-pedestrian accident near the Colman exit on Interstate 29 has been identified as 34-year-old Hevin Mathis of Rapid City.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, an SUV was southbound when it struck Mathis, who was walking in the driving lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two male occupants of the car, the 29-year-old driver and a one-year-old passenger, were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
