SDSU to move temporarily to online classes
South Dakota State University, in concert with the public universities which comprise the South Dakota Board of Regents’ system, has announced the following actions due to the COVID-19 situation:
- Beginning Monday, March 23, all classes will be temporarily moved online; and
- On-campus, in-person classes are currently scheduled to resume April 6.
The SDBOR will revisit this evolving situation March 27 and communicate any changes in course delivery, if needed, at that time.
The actions are in the interest of public safety due to the continued high risk of COVID-19 exposure throughout the United States.
In accordance with South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s Executive Order 2020-05, SDSU is requiring all nonessential personnel to telework during their normal work schedule.
As a reminder, the following SDSU facilities are closed until further notice: Wellness Center, McCrory Gardens, South Dakota Art Museum, South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum, the University Bookstore in the University Student Union, SDSU Dairy Bar and the SDSU Meat Lab.
The Fishback Early Learning Center Preschool will also be closed. The kindergarten on campus is currently closed and it will continue to follow the schedule determined by the Brookings School District.
In addition, all university-sponsored activities, events and admissions visits scheduled to be on campus will continue to be canceled through April 14.
