There will be a Brookings School Board election as 3 have filed for 2 seats

There will be a Brookings School Board election this year as three people have now filed for the two available seats. Incumbent Debra DeBates has filed as have Keli Books and Jade Withers.

The second seat is currently held by Roger DeGroot.

On the City side, just two people have filed thus far. Nate Holden has filed to run for City Counicil and Ope Niemeyer has filed for Mayor.

The seats currently held by Council Members Patty Bacon and Nick Wendell are up this year. Current Mayor Keith Corbett is not seeking reelection.

Potential candidates still have time to file as nominating petitions for the April 13th election must be in by Friday, February 26 at 5:00 pm.
