One person injured in crash at 22nd Ave. and 20th St. S.

One person is injured in a Tuesday morning accident at 22nd Avenue and 20th Street South.

Brookings police report it happened shortly before 6:00 am.

An SUV driven by 42-year-old Joshua Vandeweerd of Brookings was eastbound on 20th Street South. A car driven by 35-year-old Ashley Markus of Brookings was headed north on 22nd Avenue.

Police say the SUV stopped for the flashing red light before continuing East. The
driver did not see northbound car. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Markus was transported to the Brookings Emergency Room with minor injuries.

Both vehicles received significant disabling damage.
